They then took me to the nicely laid-out Thai Film Museum for a great tour through the history of their film industry (and more vintage technology)!
This was our tour guide:
this proto-Hummer used to bring movie screenings to people around Thailand. Like a video Sound System! It has a generator, collapsable screen, projector, and speakers. What's not to love?:
it was interesting to see shadow puppet traditions in the context of animation:
Apitchatpong Weerasethakul was sleeping there (he just won the "Palme d'Or" award @ the Cannes Film Festival for his new film "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives."
